On my way to university, I was talking to a colleague about a philosophical question that was on my mind: how can we reconcile the world of life with instrumental rationality? It is no secret that, in university work, the logic of measurement—expressed in the scope of strategic, tactical, and operational indicators—has permeated the way academic programs are created, modified, and improved. This way of understanding the world derives from an instrumental rationality, which comes into tension with the world of life.
