The sacred and viltal paradox. An apprach to the notion of sovereignty in George Bataille

Abstract

This paper focuses on the topic of the sacred and the sovereignty in George Bastille, the French author responds through these notions to the demanding reflections that the human condition implies in this contrasts and displays. Thus, Bataille establishes that sovereignty brings us to the possibility on a open and unlimited possibility to experience the sacred in which the human being faces their essential paradox between the damned and the miracle establishing itself as difference and singularity. This presentation is divided into two phases, the first one introduces fundamental elements to understand the topic as proposed by Bataille; the second one goes in depth into the most relevant sovereignty characteristics according to the French author, and indicates the existential implications of an experience of the sacred.
