TDAH en el adulto: la necesidad de un viraje paradigmático

Resumen

El Trastorno por Déficit de Atención con Hiperactividad (TDAH) se establece como una de las condiciones del neurodesarrollo de mayor prevalencia global. Estudios recientes sitúan su frecuencia en un 8 % dentro de la población infantil y adolescente (Ayano et al., 2023). Dada la naturaleza persistente de gran parte de su sintomatología a lo largo del ciclo vital, el abordaje clínico de este trastorno no debe circunscribirse exclusivamente a la niñez. La data epidemiológica en adultos confirma esta persistencia, con una prevalencia que oscila entre el 2.5 y el 5 %, lo que representa aproximadamente 200 millones de adultos afectados a nivel global (Simon et al., 2009; Willcutt, 2012).
