In every process of social research, the researcher has to choose an approach that allows him to adequately
explain the particular phenomenon to be studied. This article intends to present the empirical paradigm as
an approach well suited for the studies performed in political sciences. Through this methodology, the
qualitative research approach, the search and the literature review were privileged to inquire about the
methodological perspectives used in political sciences. The results showed that the empirical-analytical
approach as a methodology for research is appropriate for studies in political sciences. It can finally be
concluded that political sciences, besides using the empirical-analytical research approach, must use other
research approaches to widen its vision, so that simplicity is avoided and a more objective and holistic
explanation can be reached.
