The text presented is intended to draw a glance around the stories of independence including the card
as a means of calling and power in the communicative tissue colonization and the establishment of the
crown. Following a methodology for document analysis, development sets her sights on the nation state
as a utopia of peoples to be realized in the nineteenth, after various deeds and sacrifice of three intellectual
generations: the lost generation of 1781, the illustrated criollos 1808 and the heroes of independence. It
considering that this is a critical reading, seeks to sustain the thesis america was born between letters, as
a contribution to the academic debate on a line of political thought and latin american identity, in the same
approach of writing.
