Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The journal Perseitas, in accordance with the Ethical Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools in Research and Intellectual Production at Universidad Católica Luis Amigó, recognizes the impact of these technologies in the academic and publishing spheres, as well as the benefits and risks associated with their use.
In accordance with the principles of openness, compliance, responsibility, transparency, respect, and equality, the journal establishes the following guidelines applicable to submitted manuscripts, evaluations, editorial processes, and derivative content.
Primacy of Human Intellect
Texts, tables, figures, and other academic content must originate from human intellect and reflect the creative capacity, academic training, and professional background of their authors.
Information provided by AI tools may be used solely as support or reference, and not as the exclusive mechanism for data collection and analysis, content creation, or the production of definitive results.
Authorship is attributed exclusively to human beings.
Responsibility of Authors and Contributors
Authors, reviewers, and other participants in the editorial process must take responsibility for any content generated or assisted by AI.
This includes:
- Verifying generated information and data.
- Cross-checking with reliable and academically validated sources.
- Ensuring the originality and integrity of the manuscript.
- Reviewing for biases, inaccuracies, or errors.
- Protecting personal, sensitive, or confidential data.
- Complying with the licenses and terms of use of the tools employed.
Mandatory Declaration of AI Use
Authors must disclose any use of AI at the time of manuscript submission.
The declaration must indicate, where applicable:
- Name of the tool used.
- Function or purpose of the use.
- Sections of the manuscript in which it was used.
- Initial prompt or main instruction.
- Total number of prompts used.
- How the generated content was handled (adaptation, analysis, citation, among others).
- Ethical considerations adopted.
- Statement of responsibility for the final content.
In articles, this information may be placed in a footnote under the title or in the section designated by the journal.
Citations and References
When AI is used as a reference source and content derived from its responses is included, it must be cited and referenced in accordance with the journal’s citation guidelines.
Permitted Uses as Editorial Assistance
AI may be used to assist with tasks such as:
- Improving the clarity and flow of the text.
- Assisting with the translation of titles, abstracts, and keywords.
- Organizing citations and references.
- Preliminary preparation of tables or figures.
- Assisting with academic dissemination processes.
All uses must undergo critical review and human validation.
Reasons for Rejection
The following will be grounds for rejection at any stage of the editorial process:
- Failing to disclose the use of AI.
- Submitting content generated by AI without critical analysis.
- Including false, unverified, or misleading information.
- Compromising the originality of the manuscript.
- Violating copyright or confidentiality.
Verification
The journal may use technological detection and analysis tools, the results of which will be reviewed by the editorial team.
