Abstract

This article aims to establish a relationship between arendtian perspective of understanding and the family’s daily practices, to argue that it is possible to make a hermeneutics of family’s stories to find in them political senses. For Arendt, understanding is a permanent existential task that implies a dialogue with oneself and with others, and to be able to reflect and to build a different place in the world. Politics is the building of a common world –between-us– and the possibility to transform together that world, and the political, for Arendt, is the participation of the space between-us, that implies to recognize each other as part of a shared world. From arendtian perspective, the plurality and political action only are possible in the public space, which excludes family as a political space; however, here is argued that family is the first space in which it expresses the plurality and where are prefigured the identities and configure the love mundi. © Revista Colombiana de Ciencias Sociales.
