Abstract

This work describes the development of a programming platform using EMSO (Environment for Modeling, Simulation and Optimization) for friction losses calculations in pipe assemblies. The platform is based on father models for describing the behavior of a straight pipe and its different fittings. Those father models can be connected through a flowsheet according to the required process diagram. In this way, the total energy losses by friction during fluid flow through transport system can be calculated. The platform contains tube-pipe and a set of fitting and drive machines frequently found in process plants.
