Abstract

This paper is aimed at reflecting about the power Colombia’s Constitutional Court may
have, so that constitutional control over the contents of constitution reforms may
be kept, by using conventionality control as a means of legitimation. The concept of
Conventionality Control has developed in the Inter-American Commission on Human
Rights (IACHR) for no longer than two decades. The Colombian Constitutional Court
has kept in mind IACHR’s line of case law, to issue some rulings on constitutionality
regarding laws, nevertheless “conventionality control” has not been exercised to revise
the contents of a constitutional reform.
