Cerebrovascular attack (CVA) is a sudden onset neurological condition that is subdivided into two types, ischemic or hemorrhagic. This condition is the second cause of death in the world with 11% and it is estimated that nearly 10 million people are disabled. Among the cognitive impairments, aphasia is evident, defined as an acquired language disorder that occurs due to brain damage and not as developmental alterations or alterations limited to the speech motor apparatus. The objective of the study was to establish the effect of a neuropsychological rehabilitation program focused on comprehensive language on functional abilities and quality of life in an aphasic patient secondary to stroke. The study had a single-case quasi-experimental design (N=1), with explanatory scope. The measurement questionnaires were the Lawton and Brody scale for instrumental activities of daily living and the quality of life scale for stroke. It was evident that the percentage of non-overlapping data of the Lawton and Brody scale presents an effectiveness of 75%, as for the communication and cognition domains, they present an effectiveness of 100%; and in the total of non-overlapping data domains, the results were 70.8%, evidencing a moderate effect. It is concluded that neuropsychological rehabilitation was effective, significantly impacting functional abilities and quality of life.
