Manejo de residuos de construcción y demolición y economía circular: una revisión narrativa

Resumen

El manejo de residuos de construcción y demolición es fuente de preocupación para tomadores de decisiones y para quienes se interesan por la protección del medio ambiente y el crecimiento económico. Sin embargo, a simple vista parece una contradicción generar desarrollo económico a partir de la construcción y, a su vez, cuidar de manera sistemática el medio ambiente. Este artículo tiene como objetivo motivar una reflexión teórica producto de la revisión de experiencias e investigaciones relacionadas, cuyo alcance es proponer la incorporación de la economía circular como alternativa viable para el contexto colombiano frente al tratamiento de desechos de construcción y demolición. Los resultados muestran que es posible armonizar y disminuir la tensión entre desarrollo económico y afectaciones al medio ambiente en torno a la actividad de la construcción, bajo una dinámica de economía circular. Se concluye que las intervenciones gubernamentales y la introducción de tecnologías de reciclaje avanzadas exigen la certificación de productos reciclados y limitación de la especulación, otorgando estímulos a quienes desarrollan una cultura de protección del medio ambiente.
