Abstract

This article goes deep inside the literature of humanitarian logistics; the evolution this object of study has had through these twenty-four years of research. It emphasizes the most important authors and worldwide works, the contributions of the different articles applied to the real problems and how the current planning and response trends have been strengthening to disasters due to the increase of these in recent years. We will highlight the research in each of the stages of humanitarian logistics, the models developed and the contributions which give rise to the development of new works that help to improve the critical conditions of a population in a disaster situation. This literature review looks for the reader know in a clear and simple way about the humanitarian value chains and in the case the topic becomes his/her trend of study, He/She has a guide for the investigation, based on the documents here referenced and He/She has a light on issues related to humanitarian logistics that researchers have not yet addressed.
